Kuul Terms of Use

The Mongolian version is the official one. If the two differ, the Mongolian text applies.

1. About these terms

1.1. Kuul is a timetable app for university students in Mongolia. It has your class timetable, class and friend chats, campus alerts, and lost and found. In these terms, "Kuul" and "we" mean the people who run Kuul, from Ulaanbaatar. If Kuul becomes a company, we'll tell you in the app and update these terms.

1.2. These terms are an agreement between you and us, and they are Kuul's end user licence agreement (EULA). You accept them by ticking the box on the terms screen before you sign up or sign in; we record which version you accepted and when. If you don't accept them, don't create an account. You can still browse lost and found without one.

1.3. How we handle your personal data is in the Privacy policy. We ask for each kind of consent separately, and accepting these terms doesn't count as any of them.

2. Who can use Kuul

2.1. Kuul is for students of universities and colleges in Mongolia. Kuul staff and the official accounts of schools and student bodies also use it.

2.2. You must be at least 16. If you are 16 or 17, a parent or legal guardian must read these terms and the Privacy policy and agree to them; you confirm that on the consent screen. Kuul asks for your birth date at sign-up and turns away anyone under 16. You can't change your birth date in the app later; if you made a mistake, email hello@kuul.mn.

2.3. One person, one account. You can't create an account if we closed one of yours for breaking these terms.

3. Signing in and verification

3.1. Kuul has no passwords. We send a 6-digit code to your school email, and you enter it to sign in.

3.2. Signing in with your school email address verifies that you're a student. It's the only way to verify for now.

3.3. Verification lasts for the school year you verify in, until the 30 September after it ends. Then you verify again for the new school year.

3.4. Don't sign up as someone else, use another person's email or ID, or try to get around verification. If you do, we close the account.

4. Your account

4.1. Keep access to your email secure. Never share a sign-in code: a code gives full access to your account. If you think someone else is using your account, email hello@kuul.mn right away.

4.2. Use the name you go by, and keep your school, faculty and year correct. You're responsible for what happens in your account.

4.3. You can delete your account at any time in Settings (see section 13).

5. Using Kuul

5.1. Kuul is free. We may add, change or remove features. Before any paid feature launches, we'll add its terms here and tell you in the app.

5.2. Timetables come from schools' public data and from what students enter. They can be wrong or out of date. Check your school's official timetable before an exam or a room change.

5.3. A "confirmed" campus alert means other students confirmed it. It is not an official notice. Only accounts with the "official" badge speak for a school. Check with your school before an important decision.

6. Community rules

6.1. Kuul is for students, so treat other people the way you would on campus. You must not:

  1. Harass, threaten, bully or insult anyone, or post hate against a group.
  2. Post someone else's phone number, address, ID details or photos without their permission.
  3. Post false alerts or fake lost and found items, or pretend to be someone else.
  4. Send spam or ads, or sell things in chats.
  5. Post sexual or violent content. Any sexual content involving a minor gets reported to the police.
  6. Ask for money or a reward to return a found item.
  7. Insult lecturers or comment on their private lives or looks. Comments about teaching have to be factual.
  8. Share other people's copyrighted work without permission.
  9. Hack Kuul, scrape it, run bots, or use more than one account.
  10. Use Kuul for anything illegal.

6.2. If you see something that breaks these rules, report it in the app rather than dealing with it yourself.

6.3. Kuul has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We remove content that breaks these rules, usually within 24 hours of a report, and we suspend or close the account of anyone who posts it or abuses other people (section 8).

7. Your content

7.1. What you post on Kuul stays yours: messages, photos, alerts, lost and found posts, timetable notes. You give us a free, non-transferable permission to store it and show it to the people you shared it with. We also use it to run moderation (section 8). That's all the permission covers.

7.2. The permission ends when you delete the content, with one exception. A message someone else has already received stays in their chat. If you delete your account, your messages stay in chats and show "Deleted user" as the sender.

7.3. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.

8. Reports and moderation

8.1. You can report a message, user, group, alert or lost and found post. A keyword filter checks chat messages for insults, scams and contact details, and it may hold a message until a person reviews it.

8.2. Kuul staff review reported content, including messages our filter reports automatically. We aim to handle every report within 24 hours, and look at safety reports (threats, harassment) first.

8.3. We can remove content, warn you, stop you from posting alerts, or suspend or close your account, and only for one of these reasons: you broke the community rules (section 6); you signed up with false details or as someone else (3.4); you shared your account or sign-in codes (4.1); a court or government authority ordered it; or your account puts other students' safety at risk. A person makes every decision to suspend or close an account, and we tell you which reason applies.

8.4. If you think we got a decision wrong, email hello@kuul.mn within 14 days. A person who didn't make the first decision looks at it again, and we answer within 72 hours.

8.5. You can block anyone. Blocking ends your friendship, and the person can no longer message you or see your timetable.

9. Timetable data

9.1. National University of Mongolia (NUM) timetables come from NUM open data under the CC-BY-SA licence, and we credit the source in the app. Other schools' timetables come from their public websites and files.

9.2. Timetables include lecturers' names as the schools publish them. Anyone whose data appears in Kuul, a lecturer included, can email hello@kuul.mn and we will remove it.

9.3. If you fix a course in the catalogue, other students may see your correction. We keep a record of who made it.

10. Kuul's rights

The Kuul name, logo, design and software belong to us. Don't copy, sell or modify the app, and don't use our name or logo to suggest we endorse you.

11. No guarantees

11.1. We provide Kuul as it is. It may sometimes be unavailable, slow or wrong.

11.2. We are not responsible for:

  • what other users post, or whether it is true
  • meetings, handovers of found items, or deals between users
  • a missed class or exam because a timetable was wrong

11.3. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, or where Mongolian law doesn't allow a limit (Civil Code art. 202), including your right to compensation if we fail to protect your personal data. If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.

12. Changes to these terms

We'll tell you in the app at least 14 days before a change takes effect, and say what changes. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before then. If a change affects how we use your personal data, we ask for your consent again. We never treat silence as consent.

13. Ending your account

13.1. You can delete your account in Settings → Delete account. Your name, bio and photo are removed at once, and you're signed out on every device. If you sign in again within 30 days, the account comes back. After 30 days we delete it for good (see the Privacy policy for what remains).

13.2. We can suspend or close your account only for the reasons in 8.3.

13.3. If we shut Kuul down, we'll tell you at least 30 days before. You'll have time to ask for a copy of your data, and then we delete it.

14. Law and disputes

14.1. The laws of Mongolia apply.

14.2. If you have a problem, email hello@kuul.mn first. If we can't solve it within 30 days, either side can go to a Mongolian court.

14.3. You can take a personal data complaint directly to the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia.
